Class A Chicago license?
Yes: Class A Chicago Masonry and Concrete license on file. Worth asking any crew you compare.
How long in the trade?
We have been forming and finishing slabs around here since 2017.
Where does the water go?
Each estimate names the direction of fall, so runoff leaves the slab heading for grass or a drain.
What is under the slab?
Depth of excavation and inches of packed gravel are written into the estimate, not left vague.
Who hauls the rubble?
We do. Removal of the old concrete is a line item, priced up front.
Which Concrete Job Is Yours?
Is it the backyard, the front entry, the drive, or a structure that has not been built yet? Each of the seven services below gets the same estimating habits: measure first, check the grade, then price every component separately.
Concrete Flatwork
Need a level spot for a shed, a generator or a trash corral? We dig, lay gravel, form and pour at-grade slabs with a slight fall so they never become a birdbath.
Concrete Foundations
Sunroom going up? New two-stall garage? Covered porch on the way? Footings, poured walls and on-grade slabs are excavated past frost depth and set to the elevations on your drawings.
Stamped Concrete
Want the texture of flagstone or old brick without setting individual pieces? Patterns are pressed into tinted concrete, then the surface is sealed once it hardens.
Concrete Walkways & Sidewalks
Is the path to your door heaved or crumbling? New entry walks and side paths get a slight sideways tilt so puddles do not linger and freeze.
Concrete Patios
Does your backyard flood toward the house after a storm? A properly graded patio moves that water out to the lawn while giving you room for chairs and a grill.
Concrete Driveways
Has the drive sunk by the garage or split into chunks? We remove it, rebuild the gravel bed, add steel and pour a slab with enough depth for a minivan, a pickup and the odd delivery van.
Commercial Concrete
Managing a strip center, warehouse or apartment block? Entry walks, mechanical pads and at-grade slabs get scheduled so tenants and shoppers keep moving.
Three Stages, No Guesswork
Questions on the phone, then a site measure
What do you want poured, how big, and what is there now? After that first conversation we come out with a level and a tape. We check which way your yard drains, where the downspouts empty and how close a ready-mix truck can get.
An itemized estimate in your hands
You receive a written estimate with each piece listed on its own line: excavation, gravel depth, slab thickness, steel, finish, joint layout and removal of anything old. If grade or soil could change the cost, that possibility is spelled out ahead of time.
Excavate, pour, cure and clean
On the scheduled day the area is dug, gravel gets tamped hard, then boards are staked at the planned fall and the concrete is placed and finished. Joints get sawn or tooled, the slab is covered while it cures, and the yard is raked and swept before we leave.
What Makes an Estimate Worth Trusting?
Any crew can quote a low square-foot number. The useful question is what that number includes. Here is what ours always covers.
Ground prepared before anything is poured
We excavate to the depth the slab actually needs, remove soft or organic soil, and compact a gravel bed in layers. Concrete rests on that bed evenly, so a corner does not sink while the rest stays put.
Every cost on paper first
Slab inches, gravel depth, reinforcement, finish type and removal of the old surface are listed individually. You can compare our estimate to anyone else's line by line, and nothing new appears on the final bill without your sign-off.
Homes and businesses alike
One week it is a backyard patio in Alsip, the next it is a row of storefront walks for a property owner. The estimating method and the build quality are the same either way.
A yard that looks like we were never there
Broken concrete is loaded out, form boards are pulled, soil is pushed back along the edges and the driveway is swept. You get your outdoor space back, plus a new slab.
Alsip Concrete Work and the Surrounding Communities
Alsip straddles the Cal-Sag Channel in southwest Cook County, with the Tri-State cutting through and Cicero Avenue and Pulaski Road carrying traffic north to Oak Lawn and south toward Crestwood and Midlothian. Housing here is mostly mid-century brick ranches, raised ranches and split-levels, many of them on flat lots where water has nowhere obvious to go. Commercial and light industrial buildings line the major roads. That combination keeps us busy with patios that need careful grading, driveways worn down by many winters of salt, and storefront walks in need of replacement. We also pour across Oak Lawn, Crestwood, Worth, Chicago Ridge, Palos Heights, Blue Island, Midlothian, Robbins, Merrionette Park and Evergreen Park.
Flat lots, careful grading
When a yard barely slopes, a patio has to create its own fall. We set forms with a measured pitch so water leaves the slab and heads for open ground.
Heavy clay underfoot
Much of the soil here holds moisture and moves with frost. A compacted gravel bed between that clay and your slab evens out the support.

A flat or back-pitched patio is often the culprit. We can measure the grade, figure out where runoff should go and give you an itemized number for a slab that sends it there.

Questions Alsip Homeowners Bring to the Estimate
If you are wondering about one of these, so is nearly everyone else we meet.
From first visit to finished slab, how many days are we talking?
Most residential jobs need only two to four working days on site: excavation and gravel, forming and the pour, then stripping forms and cleanup. Curing continues for weeks after that, though you can walk on it much sooner. Rain or a cold snap can shift the pour date, and we will tell you as soon as the forecast turns.
How do you make sure water drains off a new patio or walk?
By building fall into the forms. A patio typically slopes gently away from the house so runoff heads for the lawn or a drain, and a walk tilts slightly to one side. We look at downspouts, neighboring grades and low spots before setting that pitch, so the water has a real place to go.
Is winter road salt going to eat my new driveway?
Salt makes freeze-thaw damage worse, especially on concrete that was finished wet or never cured properly. A well-cured, dense surface holds up far better. For the first winter, avoid rock salt on new concrete entirely, use sand for traction, and rinse off salty slush that drips from your car.
What kind of lifespan should I expect from a garage or addition foundation?
A foundation that is excavated below frost depth, reinforced as drawn and kept dry by good drainage is meant to last for the life of the structure above it. Problems usually come from shallow footings, poor soil under them or water that has been left to pool along the walls.
Is the upcharge for stamped over a plain broomed slab money well spent?
It does for many owners who want the look of stone or brick without the upkeep of setting separate pieces. The slab underneath is the same, so it lasts like regular concrete if built well. The extra cost covers color, release, stamping labor and sealer, and the surface will need resealing every few years.
Can anything be done to keep concrete from cracking?
Concrete shrinks while curing and moves with temperature, so some cracking is normal. What you can control is where and how much. A compacted gravel bed, proper slab thickness, steel where loads demand it and joints placed at the right spacing steer cracking into straight lines instead of random breaks.
Will my grass and flower beds survive the job?
We protect what we can and repair what we disturb. Expect a strip of lawn along the edges to be dug up for forms, and some tire marks where equipment comes in. Edges are backfilled with soil afterward so you can seed or sod. Tell us about any beds or sprinkler lines you want protected.
When in the year is concrete easiest to pour?
Late spring through early fall, when temperatures are mild and steady, gives concrete the best conditions to set and cure. Pours can happen in cooler weather with blankets and adjusted mixes, but extreme heat and hard freezes both make the work harder and the schedule less predictable.
What should go beneath a new slab?
Compacted gravel, usually crushed stone, laid over firm subgrade after soft topsoil is removed. That layer spreads loads evenly, lets water drain from beneath the slab and reduces frost movement. The depth depends on soil and use, and the estimate states it in inches.
Is colored concrete an option?
Yes. Color can be mixed into the whole batch or applied to the surface during finishing, and stamped work often uses both for a two-tone look. We bring samples so you can compare tones next to your brick or siding before choosing.
Estimators First, Finishers Always
Concrete Contractor Alsip was built around a simple idea: you should know exactly what you are paying for before a single shovel goes in. So we measure, we check the grade, we list every component, and then we pour precisely what the estimate says. Patios, drives, walks, stamped work, footings and commercial flatwork all get handled that way.
